Just because the menu’s changed doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your Taco Bell favorites.

If you’re a Taco Bell fan, you know that the past few months have been a little rough. That’s because in an effort to streamline their menu, Taco Bell cut a number of their items, like anything with shredded chicken or potatoes, the 7-Layer Burrito, and their pico de gallo. Sure, they’ve added a few new things, and while we may forgive Taco Bell, we’ll never forget. That’s why we took a stab at recreating five items that Taco Bell recently axed: Nachos Supreme, the 7-Layer Burrito, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, the Grilled Steak Soft Taco, and Mexican Pizza.

To truly hit that Taco Bell taste, you’re gonna need a few special items that you can find at the grocery store. We used Taco Bell seasoning mix, nacho cheese sauce, and refried beans. For extra Taco Bell flair, wash your food down with some Baja Blast.

Nachos Supreme

Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until it browns. Taco Bell’s ground beef is meticulously ground, so you can use a potato masher to replicate the texture. Once the beef is ground to your liking, add one packet of Taco Bell seasoning and one packetful of water and simmer. Heat refried beans in a pan (We used Taco Bell’s brand, but feel free to sub your favorite or even your own recipe). Arrange thin tortilla chips, such as Tostito’s cantina style, on a plate and top with refried beans, ground beef, and nacho cheese. To truly make it a Supreme, top with light sour cream and diced tomatoes.

7-Layer Burrito

This is an easy one, folks. Simply layer refried beans, seasoned rice, guacamole, light sour cream, lettuce, shredded cheese, and diced tomatoes on a flour tortilla. Roll everything up. To get the full Taco Bell effect, cut the burrito in half.

Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes

Par-cook two diced Russet potatoes for 3 minutes in a pot of boiling water. Drain well and let dry on a paper towel. Create a mixture of Taco Bell seasoning, tapioca starch, rice flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, turmeric, and salt in a medium bowl. Toss the potatoes in the seasoning mixture and shake off the excess. In two batches, fry the potatoes in 2 cups of oil until golden brown (about 3 minutes). Let the potatoes sit on paper towels and sprinkle with salt. Divide the potatoes into 4 bowls and top with nacho cheese and light sour cream.

Grilled Steak Soft Taco

Combine Taco Bell seasoning, a pinch of cocoa powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and sprinkle it over your favorite cheap cut of steak. Add some oil and let the steak marinate a few minutes. Grill for a few minutes on each side and dice the steak after it cools. Mix buttermilk ranch and prepared guacamole in another small bowl. Layer the steak, avocado ranch, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes in a flour tortilla. 

Mexican Pizza

Lightly dredge the thinnest flour tortilla you can find in corn flour. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a skillet and add the tortilla, flipping several times until it’s crispy and beating any bubbles down, about five minutes. Top one tortilla with refried beans and ground beef. Add a second tortilla to the stack. Combine taco sauce and red enchilada sauce and spread it on top of the tortilla and top with shredded mozzarella and a Mexican cheese blend. Add diced tomatoes and sliced black olives and broil until the cheese melts, about 1 to 2 minutes. Let cool and cut into 4 pieces.
